Quality Responsibility

Effective quality-control is the key to success on every project. Expectations and requirements must be clearly communicated with every stakeholder on the project. Our Quality Manager will assume overall responsibility for quality management, construction package development, and quality reporting for this contract. In addition, he will be responsible for the overall management of all quality control of contract deliverables.

Document Control

Document control will be in place to handle all documents and correspondence, to provide to the customer, as well as our internal staff. Our document control individual will track all documents and correspondence in a way that can be organized and scaled. Also, in charge of withholding documents until they’re approved, tracking all revisions, feedback from the client, versions, global changes to CAD template, followed by communicating with everyone that will be affected.

– Design Control

We have set quality practices and procedures in place and incorporated them into the design and development for design and field changes, subject to design control measures. Design controls consist of: development planning, design input, design output, review, verification, validation and customer facing.

– Individual Document Control

Each field engineer after completing their field drawing and data collection process will use the field QC checklist to check against the drawing to insure accuracy, correct verbiage, construction feasibility etc. Once QC’d and signed off by field engineer and project manager, it’s then sent to the Drafting Department for package creation. Once drafting is completed, a drafting checklist is signed by the drafter and drafting manager. Once complete the construction package and both signed checklists are given to our Advanced Fiber Group Quality Manager for Quality Check.

Corporate Level

Corporate level responsibility is to oversee the quality plan “as a whole” to maintain efficiency and overall project quality and guidelines as it relates to the contract, the scope of work and the scheduled deadlines.

Project
Level

Our performance management approach involves the following; in-depth planning, frequent and transparent communication, constant and vigilant monitoring, incentivizing excellence, risk planning and mitigation, and implementing immediate corrective-action when necessary. Must allow time for QC & inspections to happen. Delineating pieces out such as QC Manager, Field QC Inspectors and back office inspections.

Individual Level

Our implemented checklists help break quality control into a QC per-person level. Identifying who is in charge of
QC-ing, the field data collection, drafting, design, and to the back office. Each person working needs to bring up all issues that may arise, so we can take corrective action. Appropriately incentivizing team members leads to higher morale, increased productivity, and a greater commitment to quality. We encourage our team’s members to contribute in new ideas and processes so that we can always continue to improve our quality, time lines and overall customer expectations. And most importantly, “We want the best idea to win”.

Schedule

Inspection and Quality Control activities should not be viewed as delaying the schedule, instead as a part of normal day-to-day operating activities. Meeting the schedule holds importance but should never be used as an excuse for ‘quick-work’ that is poor in quality. The schedule must be coordinated with the customer on a normal basis. If the customer has been briefed regarding how each phase of the project is progressing, it’s less likely to be a delay waiting on any needed inspection. If the scheduled dates for any given segment cannot be met for reasons out of our control such as weather, municipality delays, etc., the customer must be notified immediately verbally and in writing explaining the unavoidable delays. For any other schedule impacting delays, Advanced Fiber Group will produce a detailed cure plan of how to get the late jobs complete and turned in by the cure plan dates approved by the client and without compromising the quality of the packages.

Reports, Logs, And Documentation

Sufficient records shall be maintained as well as including operating logs, results of reviews, inspections, tests, field audits, monitoring of work performance, and if appropriate, material analysis must be performed. Records should also include related data such as qualifications of personnel, procedures, and needed equipment.

The 8 major points that need documented and tracked:

  • QC checklist
  • QC log
  • Construction Package Transmittal Log
  • Change order documentation
  • RFI (project specific)
  • Global Changes to CAD Templates
  • Weekly Quality Control Meeting Minutes
  • Cure Plans

Field Inspection / Tests

Program for inspecting project activities to insure they conform with project documents and procedures. Inspections should be performed by person or person(s) that did not perform and/or produce the work. Your test and inspection results should be documented to ensure that they meet all listed requirements for the project.
